Soapbox Cart Build Party This Saturday!
Brattleboro race is hosting a build party with experts on hand to help you out
Hello all you beautiful people! I'm sure you're all asking, "Daniel, what is this Soapbox Derby Build Party event that's happening on Saturday, July 18th at noon at 234 Elliot St in Brattleboro, Vermont?"
Well, I'm glad you asked, and I'm happy to tell you. When you arrive at the build party, you will find that there is a guy (Kevin Daily) with a big trailer full of tools and lots of experience using them, there's another guy (Perry England) with a mobile welding kit, and I will be there with a trailer full of random parts (like wheels and wood and bikes and stuff) and the three of us (along with other organizers) will help you finish your soapbox derby cart and/or start your soapbox derby cart so you can race in this year's event which, as you know, is Sunday, August 9th, 2026, at the Exit 1 Industrial Park in Brattleboro, VT.
So there will probably be music playing (maybe even live music) and lots of lively conversation but, most importantly, there will be people (like Kevin, Perry, and me) with tools, knowledge, and opinions to help you figure out how to make your car safer, better, cooler, and (possibly) more attractive (which I know is subjective).
Your soul needs more than streaming platforms and doom scrolling! Your soul needs you to get your hands dirty! Your soul needs you to design something bad ass! Oh wait, maybe you have no intention of building a vehicle for this year's event ... That's cool! Come down and say hi, ask people what is going on, share your opinions and concerns, and maybe we can interpret the strange dream you had the night before!

Soapbox Cart?
If you have ever wondered what a soapbox derby is, or if you've ever wondered what kind of maniac would scavenge a bunch of random materials, slap them together, put wheels on them, push it to the top of a hill, get in, and ride down, well, this is the perfect opportunity to find out!
Don't worry about distracting us, we are in a constant state of distraction which is one of the reasons we do this event!
I, personally, look forward to seeing you all on Saturday, July 18th at 234 Elliot St in Brattleboro, Vermont! Bring whatever parts and designs you have or bring nothing and leave with everything!
How to get there:
At the five-way corner of Williams Street, Union Hill, Elliot Street, and Frost Place there is an old building with a cool mural prominently featured upon one wall. The building used to be the showroom for Favly Pools & Spas but is now the new home for ReNew Building Materials and Salvage.
Behind that building, on Saturday, July 18th, the Kornguth's Annual(ish) Soapbox Derby will be hosting a build party to help all y'all finish (or start) your soapbox derby race cars for the big event on August 9th!
Thanks to Erich Kruger, we're able to set up in a convenient downtown location! Let's get this party started!
